This session presents a comprehensive analysis of the "Smart Emergency Light Testing System and its Applications" in terms of operation and maintenance point of view. The majority of emergency lighting in Hong Kong adopts traditional manual testing methods. The core of the paper focuses on an innovative smart emergency light testing system with Internet of Things (IoT) wireless technology. This system provides real-time monitoring and automatic testing capabilities, significantly enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of emergency lighting maintenance. By integrating wireless communication protocols, the system offers flexible and scalable solutions for different building configurations. A comparative analysis of several wireless technologies is presented. The paper also delves into the design, life cycle cost, and operational maintenance aspects of the system in comparison to those using central battery systems. This comparison reveals the advantages of smart systems in terms of reduced maintenance costs, extended system lifespan, scalability and improved operational efficiency. Also, a case study for practical applications of the smart emergency light testing system is conducted on its implementation in typical buildings in Hong Kong.
