Caroline Elliott is the first British woman to qualify in France in the multi-discipline profession of the 'pisteur secouriste' field: attaining the second degree from the 'Ecole National de Ski et Alpinisme' (ENSA) in Chamonix in 2011. Qualifying just a year later with the 'Association pour l'Etude de la Neige et des Avalanches' (ANENA) to become a controlled bomber (artificière) and an avalanche rescue dog handler (maitre chien d'avalanche). With this and the already completed Fire and Rescue training and evaluation Caroline was able to integrate as a operational member of the GSMSP (Groupe de Secours en Montagne Sapeurs-Pompiers) to attend call outs for avalanches, lost persons and collapsed structure.

When speaking to her audience, Caroline's sense of humour slides hand in hand with her story telling.."In my world of mountain rescue even avalanche dogs in this country have to be male. Caroline notes, adding, "Having a sense of humour is a key part of our work"

Caroline is also the author of the first children's snow safety book, 'Fjord's Mountain Mission' based on the daily life of ski patrol and of her former avalanche dog, 'Fjord', inspiring and educating children in 4 different languages.
