James Tan is an INCOSE-certified Expert Systems Engineering Professional (ESEP) specializing in the integration of Geospatial data, Physics AI, IoT, Digital Twins, and City Infrastructure. As the Director for the Smart City Technology Division at GovTech, he provides technical governance and strategic direction, creating products and services for complex urban infrastructure projects that define Singapore’s smart city landscape. James was the technical lead for the Punggol Digital District (PDD), overseeing the migration of critical systems into a unified digital platform. His work is instrumental in shaping the future of national mobility, including Autonomous Vehicles, Maritime Digital Twins, and other Smart Facilities initiatives.   With a research focus on various aspects of AI (Embodied, Physics, and GeoAI) and robotics, James is dedicated to advancing interactive command-and-control frameworks. His current work bridges the gap between high-level urban planning and technical execution, ensuring that smart city frameworks remain both agile and resilient.
