Melvin Keng

Principal Architect / Founder, Kaizen Architecture

Melvin has received significant recognition for his contributions to architecture. In 2024, he was awarded the inaugural Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) Young Architects Award, celebrating his leadership, design excellence, and impact on the profession. His work with the practice has also led to notable projects including Rumah Kechik, which won two SIA Architectural Design Awards, and Terrace Flat, an innovative HDB public flat renovation, which won numerous regional awards and mentions like Golden Pin Design Award (Taiwan), Dezeen Awards. KZA is also regularly featured in leading design publications like Archdaily, CNA Lifetstyle, Dezeen to name a few. 

In 2025, he is one of the 23 recipients of the "20 Under 45" Architects (4th Edition) presented by the Urban Development Authority (URA) Singapore - an award that celebrates the top emerging architects that under the age of 45, occurring only once every 5 years only. 

Outside of his practice, he also serves on the SIA Council and advocates for young architects in the industry as well as engages actively in mentoring as an adjunct lecture at LASALLE SCHOOL OF ARTS AND DESIGN.

Guided by the philosophy of kaizen—continuous improvement—Melvin’s design approach balances innovation with restraint, tradition with modernity, and beauty with purpose. His projects aim to uplift everyday living while responding meaningfully to context, culture, and lifestyle.
