Ir Prof. Vincent Ho BS, MS, Ph.D., MBA, CEng, PE, RPE, CSP, RSO, CFIOSH, FIMechE, FCILT, FHKIE, FHKIUS

Professor Vincent Ho is an internationally recognised leader in risk management, system safety and assurance, fire risk analysis, safety governance, and occupational safety and health, with over 40 years of experience across the transportation, defence, nuclear, and energy sectors. He made history as the first International President of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)—the world’s leading professional body for safety practitioners—and its first Asia‑based leader.

Professor Ho currently serves as the Secretary General of the Asia Pacific Occupational Safety and Health Organisation (APOSHO), one of the world’s largest multinational OSH alliances, uniting over 40 councils, institutions, and associations across the Asia Pacific and beyond, as a collective global voice for workplace safety, health, well-being and sustainability.

He also serves as the Chairman of the North East Asia Region of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), the Chairman of the Nuclear Discipline Advisory Panel of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, and the Chairman of the Hong Kong Association of Risk Management and Safety, underscoring his leadership across engineering, nuclear safety, and work safety.

Professor Ho holds a BS, MS, PhD, and MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles. His research spans probabilistic fire risk assessment, compartment fire dynamics, magnetohydrodynamic power generation, microgravity fires, space travel, inherently safe nuclear fast reactors, human–machine interfaces, artificial intelligence, and dynamic human action analysis.

He currently applies this expertise as a teaching professor at leading global universities, including the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the University of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and the City University of Hong Kong. He is also the founder of the Research Centre for Design for Safety at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, pioneering accident prevention by design practices in the construction industry.
