Bifrost is the connectivity gateway of the ASGARD distributed detection architecture. It is optional, and that is a design decision rather than a caveat. Every node in a deployment keeps its own RF and cellular communicator, so Bifrost is never a single point of failure and never a condition for the deployment to work.

What it adds is reach. A multi-modal uplink, cellular or satellite, carries an entire cluster where there is no public network and no grid power. Satellite coverage is global, poles included, with no ground infrastructure required.

Aboard ship it acts as a Wi-Fi bridge and RF repeater through metal hulls, in chain topology, for units beyond direct range. It also receives a firmware file once and broadcasts it out to units, instead of pushing each unit individually across a slow link.

Power is mains, solar or battery. Operating range −20 °C to +70 °C. Pre-configured, it is placed, not commissioned.

Security architecture: Bifrost never holds the device-to-server keys, and it stores nothing locally. A stolen or opened gateway yields nothing.

In development, TRL 5–6. Arctic RF and range validation completed.
